- Blade of the Immortal is a Japanese action adventure animation TV series that takes place during the Tokugawa Shogunate period in medieval Japan. The show centers on Manji – a swordsman who yearns for his mortality after a witch stripes him from the right to die. A reverse-Faustian deal is being made, and Manji must kill 1000 evil men in order to regain that which makes us all human.
