Documentary exploring Nazi Germany's use of the 'Blitzkrieg' form of attack to conquer much of Europe in the early years of World War II. Blitzkrieg, often translated as 'lightning war', was a military tactic that heavily emphasised speed and surprise. Hitler notably used the Blitzkrieg in Poland and France, where German troops overran French lines before they could erect the kind of defences that had provided such stubborn resistance in World War I.
