Blue Car revolves around the character of Meg, a troubled 18 high school student who lives with her overworked and domineering divorced mother and her emotionally disturbed younger sister. Still longing for her absent Father and under the pressure of looking after her sister while studying for school, Meg finds an outlet by writing poetry. Noticing Meg's gift her English teacher Mr Auster encourages her talent providing extra tutoring at lunchtimes and persuades her to enter a state poetry competition, and Auster's professional support soon turns to emotional support as Meg struggles to cope with family life. This is a nicely directed film with great performances from the whole cast and an emotionally involving storyline which has some unexpected twists and turns. If like small character based independent dramas then this is well worth a rental.
