- While trying vainly to seduce his trainee on a beautiful spring night, Christian Lespinglet (Gérard Jugnot), gallery owner in Aix-en-Provence, must help a man drowning in the canal. Boudu (Gérard Depardieu) then enters her life as well as that of her family, never to leave her. He soon moved to Lespinglet's home and began to reign supreme under Christian's helpless gaze...
