- Synopsis:
The Boswells from Liverpool know a thing or two about working the system. The work-shy family keep their heads above water with the help of Social Security payments and jobs on the side. Standing firm at the head of the family table is Nellie Boswell the matriarch who expects no nonsense and looks after the Boswells finances from the china hen pot. The men of the family are Joey (a smooth operator and mentor to his fellow siblings) Jack (the antiques buyer) Adrian (the soft-hearted one whos worked in real-estate) and Billy (the poet). Their sister Aveline spends her days dreaming of becoming a top model while Freddie the Boswell dad has long gone from the family home but still pops round when hes not working on the bins or chasing Lilo-Lil. When the phone rings its usually Grandad calling for his dinner; he likes his routine and needs to know his teas on the way...from next door. In Series 5, the hilarious sagas of the down and out Liverpudlian family continue as Adrian launches his career as a male model, Jack leaves home to seek his fortune in America and Billy and his girlfriend split - again! In addition, cousin Shifty, who is shiftier than ever, tries to park a car in someones living room. Complication, confusion and chaos are the order of Avelines wedding to Protestant vicar Oswald as Jacks plane from America is delayed. Billy complains about wearing a girls blouse, and Mum and Dad individually pass on some heartfelt advice to their beloved daughter before she walks down the aisle. Paul and Linda McCartney guest star and Linda is treated to some good old-fashioned Liverpool hospitality and a woman-to-woman chat with Mum. - Actors:
