Collection of three archive short films and documentaries made by the GPO Film Unit at the height of the London Blitz to help build morale in the darkest days of the war. 'The First Days' (1939) is a record of the first days of the war,and uses footage from actual air raids as well as reconstructed scenes of air raid precautions to show Britain's state of readiness. 'The Front Line' (1940) follows a group of American journalists stationed at a hotel in Dover, expecting the town to be the first one captured in the inevitable Nazi invasion. Finally,'Squadron 992' (1940) is a drama-documentary looking at the training of a barrage balloon squadron and its first assignment to the Forth Bridge.
