Synopsis:
This is the definitive film record of the campaign fought on Malta and in the Mediterranean, focusing on the actions fought by the Royal Navy and Fleet Air Arm, but also the British Army during the associated land campaigns. It features much rare and previously unseen footage of British warships in action from the attacks on the Vichy Fleet to Operation Dragoon and in-depth coverage of the crucial Malta Convoys. Just some of the highlights are film records of visits to Malta by the King, Winston Churchill and the George Medal presentation ceremony as well as scenes of life on the island during the siege, dramatic footage filmed aboard ship during attacks on the Malta Convoys, coverage of the surrender of the bulk of the Italian Fleet as it steamed for Malta, a look at air-sea rescue ops, 'Chariot' attacks and British aircraft carrier operations.
Air Sea Rescue: A short AAF Combat Film Report looking at joint British and American air - sea rescue operations in the Mediterranean
Target Pantelleria: An account of the intensive bombing campaign targeted against the island of Pantelleria during May-June 1943, and the subsequent amphibious assault by a British infantry Division
