Sybil (Rebecca Calder) is a recluse who has an interest in taxidermy and poetry. The former she's her picking up dead foxes for her use, the latter she displays a local readings. She's also an expert mortician working at the local undertakers. Parallel to this the harsh tragic story of Emma (Sacharissa Claxton) who after a trauma has drifted in alcoholism and with her behaviour starting to get out of control, heading towards rock bottom, having drained the patience of almost everyone around them. These stories run along each other, letting the characters develop in their own time, while indulging in some bleak bad taste humour along the way. As when Sybil is dealing with a client whose husband hadn't been all he should have been, encourages her to punch his corpse in the coffin. In Emma's case there's far less scope for funereal humour because of the memories and guilt she is carrying...
