- Sir Simon Rattle and the London Symphony Orchestra are joined by revered French pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard in performances that bring together music by Anton Bruckner and Olivier Messiaen - two composers as united in their devotion to the Catholic faith as they are divergent in their approaches to writing music. Robert Haas' edition of Bruckner's Eighth Symphony is explosive and immense, a stark contrast to Messiaen's often overlooked Couleurs de la Cite Celeste, created for reduced orchestra and comprising sequences of short musical episodes.
