I know some people love this film, but if you are a blood thirsty lass, and hear that this film is good and watch it, you will be very disappointed. The only good bits are when the girlds face is rotting away and the other gril is shaving her legs and taking a layer of rotten flesh at the same time, the rest is pathetic. I think the script writer must of got bored in some parts and just starts making no sense, I did ask myself why oh why! I couldn't sleep for weeks - not!
The basic idea behind 'Cabin Fever' is a reasonably decent one, a group of five school friends rent a log cabin in the woods and come into contact with a man infected with a flesh eating virus. When he asks for help, the group panic in fear of being infected and turns him away, and when he tries to seize their truck to get to a hospital things soon turn nasty and inevitably members of the group become infected. The combination of an unseen enemy in the form of the virus and the paranoia that surrounds the characters could have been a winning formula; the trouble is that the film is extremely badly executed, the biggest problem being writer and director Eli Roth really doesn't know what direction to take the film in. Instead of concentrating on the themes of fear and paranoia, Roth tries to cram in every horror cliché in the book giving both the story and actors no sense of direction. The quality of acting ranges from amateurish to downright appalling, and after 80 minutes of story ridden with pointless nudity, dumb unbelievable characters and plot holes you could drive a car through, the inadequate final ten minute ending seemed at best poorly though out, or at worst an afterthought. All in all, this is an absolute stinker of a film which should be avoided at all costs.
