A gripping tale of murder and justice with a tantalising twist as Edward Weldon (Humphrey Bogart) foreman of the jury, finds himself in the unenviable position of having the casting vote in a case that would send a young woman to the electric chair for murder. The decision he makes causes more than just a headline in the press and following intense pressure from reporters regarding his decision, he stands his ground proclaiming that whatever the circumstances, even if it involved a member of his own family, he would cast the same vote. Little did he know however, that before long his daughter Stella (Sidney Fox), would enter the glare of the media spotlight after committing a similar murder, although on this occasion it involved the murder of a gangster.
