- Synopsis:
- Call the Midwife is a British drama series about the lives of a group of Midwives living in London during the 1950's. The series follows Jenny Lee (Jessica Raine), a newly qualified midwife who is not prepared for the trials that await her at her new job, despite her training. Jenny must learn fast however in this tough environment as women's lives are at stake, something her fellow midwives will not let her forget. The series looks at life in the 1950's and the differences in medicine and the approach to childbirth in the period.
