Synopsis:
In this series adapted from the best-selling detective novels by Margery Allingham, Peter Davison stars as super-sleuth Albert Campion. Investigating foul play in the stately homes of 1930s England, assisted by his manservant Magersfontein Lugg (Brian Glover), Campion rarely misses a clue or fails to find a motive. Well connected in both the underworld and the aristocracy, his horn-rimmed spectacles and mild-mannered facade mask an exceptional mind that can solve even the most heinous crime.

Sweet easy listening version of a classic - Campion: The Complete Collection review by IP

The original Margery Allingham books are dark, complicated and atmospheric. These rather dated versions are a kind of comfort-watching versions of the books. Peter Davison is adequate as Allingham's detective Albert Campion. Campion does develop through the novels from a rather 'silly-ass' but likeable plod through to the much more complicated and interesting person towards the end of Allingham's career. These films are of their time. Interesting but rather light weight.
