Synopsis:
Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts the Orchestra and Chorus in this production of Bizet's work performed by the Metropolitan Opera in 2010. Set in Seville, Spain, in the 1930s - updated from the 1820s time period of the original piece - the story follows seductive gypsy Carmen (Elina Garanca) who garners the attentions of various men, most notably soldier Don José (Roberto Alagna) and bullfighter Escamillo (Teddy Tahu Rhodes). When Carmen breaks Don José's heart in favour of Escamillo the consequences are tragic for all involved.
