Synopsis:
From the director of 'The Story Of The Weeping Camel' comes another captivatingly beautiful story of nomadic family life in the endless expanse of the Mongolian landscape. While taking a walk six-year-old Nansaa finds a little black-and-white spotted dog in a cave along the cliffs. She names him "Zochor" (or 'Spot' in English) and takes him home with her. But her father tells her to get rid of him because wild dogs attack the sheep. When her father goes on a long trip to the city to sell sheepskins, Nansaa keeps the little dog, who becomes her trusted companion.
One day she loses track of him in the tundra - and while searching for him encounters an old nomad woman, who tells her the legend of the cave of the yellow dog...

Unique and wonderful - The Cave of the Yellow Dog review by TD

Unique because almost entirely without script. The scenes of the children playing, in particular, are delightfully natural. The simplicity of the story and the pace are entirely suited to the ambience and landscapes of the film.

Very soothing - The Cave of the Yellow Dog review by JD

Watch this if you feel stressed. It is better than Yoga. The pace is glacial. The setting of remote Mongolia by an isolated tent may sound bleak but it is in fact beautifully calm. You may dose off in some of the slower sections but at the end of the film you will feel relaxed beyond belief. I do not believe that an edge of seat film is necessarily good. This is the dip in the sofa.

Watch this and learn. It is beautiful and the children are a delight. A great insight into a different way of life, and of the struggles of this Mongolian family who live their life with great stoicism and wisdom.
