Happy-go-lucky Charandas (Anil Kapoor) strives to enrol at Mastram's (Om Prakash) wrestling school, to realise his dreams of becoming a champion. However, as part of Mastram's strict rules to avoid distraction, he's accepted only on the condition that he swear an oath not to marry until the age of 40, to which he obediently agrees. Unfortunately, trouble is just around the corner, as a chance meeting with Chameli (Amita Singh), a local merchant's daughter, leads to the pair falling in love with each other at first sight! Trouble ensues once Chameli's parents discover their relationship, setting off a chain of madcap antics to prevent the couple from marrying! Director Basu Chatterjee's (Chichor, Chhoti Si Baat) hit comedy features hilarious performances from the lead pair, Anil Kapoor and Amrita Singh, with a strong supporting cast including Om Prakash (Namak Halaal), Pankaj Kapoor (Gandhi) and Amjad Khan (Sholay).
