Synopsis:
Pigmalione is Gaetano Donizetti's first opera, written by Simeone's libretto Antonio Sografi in just two weeks when he was 19 years old. Donizetti himself defines Pigmalione as "lyrical scene". This is his only work based on a mythological subject that tells the story of a sculptor whose statues come to life. The main role is sung by Antonino Siragusa, who gives a majestic interpretation thanks to his clear and colorful voice. The Japanese soprano Aya Wakizono offers an excellent performance as Galatea, her seductive voice is perfectly adapted to the work. Che Originali! is a comedy in a very little known act written after Gaetano Rossi's libretto. It quickly became one of the biggest successes of Giovanni Simone Mayr, Donizetti's teacher. It tells the story of Don Febeo, music lover, who insists that in the house, everyone has the obligation to know and love music.
