Jon Voight and Jason Robards star in this chilling and dramatic reconstruction of an event that made the world tremble. On April 28,1986, scientists discovered a powerful surge of radioactivity in the air over Sweden. It is the first the world knows that a nuclear reactor test in the small Russian town of Chernobyl has gone seriously out of control. A menacing cloud of nuclear waste drifts towards the West. American Doctor Robert Gale (Jon Voight) calls on the support of Dr. Armand Hammer (Jason Robards) to fly him to Moscow where he soon confronts an almost unbeatable enemy - the deadly poison of nuclear radiation.
