This film, about the mistreatment of a group of Cheyenne Indians, was director John Ford's last western. In 1878 the tribe, sick of their appalling lifestyle on an Oklahoma reservation, attempted to move north, with dramatic results. Notable also for its sweeping Panavision landscapes, the film stars Richard Widmark, Carroll Baker, Karl Malden, Sal Mineo, Ricardo Montalban, Edward G Robinson and other well-known faces.
