Founded by Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards in New York in 1977 Chic was seen by many as the premier disco band. The truth however was far more in depth than that as in Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards Chic possessed two massive talents both in the song writing field and also production. In addition to producing hit singles and albums for Chic both collectively and separately Rodgers and Edwards would write and produce for a wide range of other major artists over the following twenty years including Sister Sledge, Diana Ross, David Bowie, Jeff Beck, Duran Duran and Madonna. Chic continued through to the eighties before Rodgers and Edwards took a sabbatical to concentrate on other production projects but came together again in the nineties as Chic. Sadly following a concert performance in Japan in 1996 Bernard Edwards died following a severe bout of pneumonia.. Nile Rodgers however continues to lead Chic featuring Nile Rodgers.
