Synopsis:
Double bill of classic British science-fiction comedy films...

Child's Play (1952)
What happens when a bunch of unruly children get their hands on an atomic chemistry set? They manage to split the atom and thereby create a new form of popcorn, of course! Mischief soon follows when their little enterprise goes global, despite the interference of a suspicious local detective in this family-friendly adventure. The classic film directed by Margaret Thomson (A Sense of Belonging) features an amazing cast that includes early appearances by future stars including Mona Washbourne (My Fair Lady), Ballard Berkeley (Fawty Towers) and the beloved Peter Sallis (Last of the Summer Wine). A charming nostalgic trip to childhood in a 1950's Britain. Filmed at Southall Studios and on location. Based on a script by Don Sharp, who also worked on the film as an assistant.
Front Line Kids (1942)
British comedy film directed by Maclean Rogers and starring Leslie Fuller made at the Riverside Studios in Hammersmith. The film sets were designed by the art director Andrew Mazzei. Set in wartime London, an unruly group or boys assist an incompetent hotel porter to thwart a gang of criminals operating out of the building.

  • Exclusive Interview with Anneke Wills:
  • Anneke was born on October 1941, in Berkshire. Her parents Anna and Alaric Willys (she later changed her name to Wills) had planned to buy a house in the South of France but World War II ended that idea. Alaric was a gambler whose debts forced Anna to take on a string of jobs while he became a captain in the British army and an absent figure. Anna worked as a gardener, a teacher and a companion to a blind aristocrat - moving Anneke and her brother Robin around the country several times. Anneke won her first role at the age of 11 while she was living on a houseboat in Bray, Berkshire. The film was called 'Child's Play' and she gave the £9 fee to her mother. Deciding she wanted to be an actress she then studied drama at the Arts Educational School in London and quickly became one of the busiest actresses of her generation, hear her wonderful memories of 'Child's Play' and her career in this exclusive interview. Anneke is interviewed by Robert Ross
