China: Beyond the Clouds (1994)

This documentary takes the viewer behind the great wall for a rare glimpse into the working mechanism of China. Director Phil Agland takes his National Geographic crew into the lives of one, Mr. Mu and his family as they try to navigate the bureaucracy of the Chinese judicial system after his nephew is murdered. Set in Lijang, a small rural town located in the southwestern region of the country, this video showcases with brutal honesty the frustration of trying to find the answers within a political entrenched and deeply rooted society.
