TV Presenter Chris Tarrant travels around the world to ride some of the most extreme railways that wind their way through some of the harshest terrain on Earth...Chris heads to Alaska, but his plan to travel along the Alaska Railroad does not get off to a good start in Seward as there are no trains running, so he hitches a ride on a track inspector's car before riding a freight train to Anchorage...Chris travels 1,500 miles from Cape Town, South Africa to the Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe following the ambitious railway envisaged by Cecil Rhodes. He also travels to Kimberley to explore the diamond mine where Rhodes made his fortune... Chris travels the route of the Soviet-era Trans-Caucasus Railway departing the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku.
