In 2011 the world watched as the Libyan people rose up against the brutal regime of Muammar Gaddafi. But what few people knew was that the man commanding the rebel forces was actually a long-time CIA ally; Khalifa Haftar. Haftar, once one of Gaddafi's leading generals had in the 1980's defected, to lead a CIA sponsored rebel army to instigate an uprising against Gaddafi. When things went wrong Haftar was left stranded in suburban America for twenty years. He returned to Libya in 2011 to lead a new rebel force in fresh war against Gaddafi that was covertly supported by the CIA.
