One of the finest American indie films of the 90's, acclaimed director Lodge Kerrigan's film is a compelling examination of a woman in crisis which features a magnificent performance from the late Katrin Cartlidge (Naked). An Irish immigrant adrift in New York and in debt to unscrupulous pimp Roland (Colm Meaney), Claire finds herself trapped into working as a high-end call girl attending to the whims of anonymous businessmen. Yearning for a more respectable and conventional life, Claire finds herself drawn to a lonely cab driver (Vincent D'Onofrio) and draws up a risky plan to escape Roland's clutches and start over again.
