Vincent and Velocette Both the names Vincent and Velocette are synonymous with all that was great about British motorcycle during their heyday.
Vincent HRD HRD was originally founded by Howard R Davies in 1924, but slow sales forced him into voluntary liquidation in 1927. The company was bought the same year by Phillip Vincent with support from his father and so the most well-known and respected marque in British motorcycling history was born.
Velocette Velocette was a family run company which after a shaky start built up a solid reputation mainly for its large capacity four stroke singles most of them being in traditional black and gold. Velocette was often ahead of its time which eventually proved to be its Achilles heel, for overspending on development costs which eventually crippled the company.
