Synopsis:
Towards the end of the 19th century, many UK manufacturers turned their attentions to the burgeoning pedal cycle business and so began the British motorcycle business. Then in 1896 a Coventry firm called Bayliss and Thomas fitted a Belium Ninerva engine to one of their bikes and the Excelsior was born; the first British motorcycle to grace our roads. But they were unable to hold the monopoly for long, for by the turn of the century dozens of other manufacturers followed their example and the British motorcycle industry was born. In the two volumes of this documentary you will be able to see and hear about many of the very early models produced between the wars and afterwards. Much of the video you will see of the earlier motorcycles are pictures of the last examples of their type.
