- Sports reporter Al Stump (Robert Wuhl) is working on a plum assignment: a biography of the larger-than-life Detroit Tiger baseball player Ty Cobb (Tommy Lee Jones). But his dream quickly degenerates into a nightmare when he discovers that his hero is racist, self-centred and far from heroic. What is the truth about Ty Cobb?
