BAFTA-winner Lynda La Plante's darkly-comedic thriller is set in the underworld of London's comedy club circuit. Johnny Lazar (Tim Guinee), a talented yet deeply troubled stand-up comedian, blows what should have been his big break on a top-rated US show. Desperate for a fresh start, he leaps at the opportunity to move to the UK. An instant hit with audiences and embracing a clean life, he appears to have overcome his demons, but his second chance soon takes a deadly turn after he witnesses the ruthless killing of a gangland boss.
