Common as Muck is a BBC-made comedy drama about a group of binmen, inspired the writer William Ivory’s own real life experience on the job. Led by Nev Smith (Edward Woodward), the six man-strong crew work to fight grime on the streets of a small midlands town, often encountering colourful characters in the form of local residents. However, when rumours surface that the council are planning to privatise their waste collection the men begin to fear for their livelihood. Together, they decide to find a way to make their protests heard.
