Winter, 1941-1942. Maria Yablochkina is a young school-girl with a dream to have a career in railway field. But WW 2 had a different plan for her Maria is sent to work on construction of the Shlesselburg through-passage, called Corridor of immortality. This railway road should connect Leningrad with other cities on the mainland, which sounds like an easy task, only the territory where the road is being built, is occupied by Nazi troops and constantly under fire. Maria, despite her young age and lack of skills, becomes part of Convoy 48, who daily risk their lives to deliver very important cargo to and from Leningrad. Putting their own life and lives of their close friends and relatives at risk, Maria along with other girls embarks on almost impossible journey.
