A Crni (Josip Kuchan)k, twenty-seven-year-old boxer from a suburban Zagreb club, in the middle of 1990 ran away from the army at that time indignant because they did not give him a telegram about his mother's death. He returns to his hometown and stumbles upon the wedding of his girlfriend Lidija (Sandra Loncaric) from yesterday with the local strongman and cafe owner - Boss (Slaven Knezovic). With the help of his friend, the car mechanic Škrga (Kristijan Ugrina), he gets involved in cigarette smuggling, not knowing that he is endangering Boss's identical and already extensive business. At the persuasion of his trainer Kirby (Ivo Gregurevic), a policeman from the local station, who protects him from the military police and with whom he has an apparently vague but special relationship, he returns to training. Faced with her husband's brutality, Lidija runs away. She was killed in the Crni man's house, in a painful situation. The only witness to the murder is Zrik (Marko Matanovic), a sixteen-year-old young man, Škrga's apprentice, who is a kind of observation point for the entire film.
