From 1961 to 1991, Africa was the battleground for a war between four competing and opposing interests: the Soviet Union which sought to extend its influence; the U.S. who were intent on capturing Africa's natural resources; former European colonial empires; and young African nations trying to defend their newly-won independence. Called on to help these new nations in their revolutionary struggle, Cuba played a central, yet little known, role in supporting African national liberation. This film attempts to understand the world today through the saga of these internationalists who won every battle but finally lost the war.
