David (1979)

Peter Lilienthal writes and directs this award-winning foreign-language drama set against the backdrop of the holocaust in Berlin, the story of a rabbi's son who sets out to escape the Nazis by fleeing to Palestine. Although his father (Walter Taub) tries to reassure the family by focusing on the positive, teenage David (Mario Fischel) can't deny the mounting evidence that things will only get worse for the Jews.
