Very strong film from the Hughes Brothers that provides us with a different viewpoint of the Vietnam war, namely African American's who signed up to try and better themselves. However after the brutal nature of war which is shown here in its full horror, they are returned to society (the Bronx here) with little improvement. Money remains an issue and if they have their physical health, then at least they are mentally scarred. The main character has done his tour of duty but his friends have only descended deeper into crime and drugs. Soon he finds himself caught up in this new struggle. This is an old style DVD flipper,so you'll need to turn it over half way through.
The heist is actually a small part of the film - but the characters hold the attention. Intelligent screenplay
