- Synopsis:
The lawless era in Deadwood is coming to an end. As the town's first elections approach, it become apparent that, like or not, civilization is on its way. But a civilized town is not necessarily a peaceful town, and the power struggles that determine the fate of Deadwood have never been more brutal. A ruthless newcomer, businessman George Hearst, threatens to reshape the town in his own image, forcing Deadwood's settlers - including the steadfast lawman Seth Bullock and the cutthroat saloon owner Al Swearengen - to form strategic alliances if they expect to thrive, and survive. While bloody conflicts change the face and fate of the town, the citizens of Deadwood come to the harsh realization... some fortunes are better left unclaimed. - Actors:

An untimely end to a great series. - Deadwood: Series 3 review by CP Customer
This is a sad and untimely end to an outstanding TV series which sets a new benchmark in the western genre. Violent, verbally offensive and utterly unmissable. The trouble is it suffered the same fate as 'Carnivale', the quality never dropped, the audience figures were good but it grew just too expensive to produce. To give HBO some credit they allow the current storyline to come to a conclusion, although this is a show which could have easily run for another five series. As this is a semi-fictitious tale based on real life characters It would have been interesting to see Seth Bullock's rise to a powerful political and military leader, Al Swearengen's fall from power, Sol Star's rise to political power and Calamity Jane attempts at family life and demise to wild west show performer. There was promise of a final two feature length films to end the story of Deadwood, but these seem all but dead in the water.
