Death Sentence is a well above average revenge flick, the story moves along at a decent rate and action is fast paced and engaging, and Kevin Bacon's transformation from mild mannered family man to vengeful killer is well played. The direction from James Wan is excellent, as the film progresses Wan cleverly builds the tension and continually darkens the tone of the film as the character of Nick descends into his own personal hell. Overall, Death Sentence is a vastly underrated revenge thriller which although bloody and violent actually has a decent story to tell.
A story of revenge by a father who's son is shot in a senseless late-night raid on a petrol station, as part of a gang initiation. It reminds me a bit of Falling Down, in that Kevin Bacon sets out to deliver his own justice as he is disillusioned with what happened to his previously perfect world.
I have not seen this film before and thought it was fantastic from start to finish. It's shocking but sad at the same time and well worth watching! Rent it today!
