Demetrio E Polibio: Rossini Opera Festival (Corrado Rovaris) (2010)

A premiere recording of Rossini's first opera, performed live at the Rossini Opera Festival, Pesaro in 2010. Stage director Davide Livermore's production turns the original libretto, a tale of feuding kings, mistaken identities, and cruel fates, into a ghost story, with the action taking place behind the stage of an opera house where everyone has left and only spirits remain. Corrado Rovaris conducts the Orchestra Sinfonica Gioachino Rossini, while the performers include María José Moreno, Victoria Zaytseva, Yijie Shi and Mirco Palazzi.
