Documentary about a group of amateur athletes who take on the challenge of running four ultramarathons in one year. The events, which are held in Chile, China, Egypt and the Antarctic, involve travelling over some of the most arduous and inhospitable locations throughout the world. Film-maker Jennifer Steinman follows the runners on their journey while gaining an insight into their motives for taking part as well as the many difficulties encountered along the way. What results is a portrayal of ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
