With more than seven hundred islands, some fifty of which are barely even inhabited, the Bahamas stretch over a distance of 250,000 square kilometers in the western Atlantic. They dot the sea between Florida and the islands of the Caribbean. Certain islands, like Andros, and Eleuthera are quite large, but there are also very small uninhabited islands in the Bahamas, known as "cayes", which only show up on maps as tiny as pin-pricks. The Bahamas are extremely popular with their American neighbours, and much appreciated for their pristine white sand beaches and their turquoise waters. The influx of tourists hasn't slowed since the 1950's with its 2,600 square kilometers of calm, protected territorial waters, this archipelago is the ideal location for sun lovers and amateur sailors. - Studio:
