It took the ex-army and radio comedian a while to break into television, but once The Dick Emery Show was launched in 1963 he never looked back - he would make 166 editions over 28 years. Emery's flair with character, costume and make-up saw a host of memorable characters fill the show: the man-hungry, sexually frustrated Hettie; the infamous toothy vicar; the skinhead Bovver Boy; camp Clarence; the ageing First World War veteran Lampwick and - of course - Mandy, Emery's most famous character. The appearance of the confused blonde whose stupefied looks eventually progressed to her "ooh, you are awful" catchphrase, were eagerly awaited across the nation. This fantastic selection features the best moments of Dick Emery's television career and showcases an indisputable comedic and acting genius.
