Synopsis:
Andrew Litton leads the Chorus and Orchestra of the Deutsche Oper in this premiere filming of Richard Strauss's opera, staged in 2011. Completed by Strauss during WWII, the opera received its world premiere at the 1952 Salzburg Festival in the absence of the composer, who died in 1949. A mixture of comedy and Greek mythology, this production of a rarely performed work includes performances by Manuela Uhl, Mark Delavan and Matthias Klink.
