In the France of 1943, Django Reinhardt (Reda Kateb) is one of the most popular entertainers and musicians, every night he plays in front of a sold-out house. With his lively gypsy swing, the jazz guitarist is so successful that even the German occupiers can be infected with it, the members of the Sinti like him otherwise mercilessly pursue and assassinate. Django, however, can be safe now - until he refuses to go on tour in Germany, as the Nazis demand from him. He is forced to flee from Paris, where his mistress Louise (Cécile De France) helps him. Together with his pregnant wife Naguine (Bea Palya) and his mother Negros (Bimbam Merstein), he fled to the Swiss border, where he meets other members of his family. Together, they plan to travel across Lake Geneva to Switzerland. But the Nazis have already recorded Django's track...
