'Series Four Of' Doctor Finlay sees a good deal of turmoil in the private lives of the central characters: unforseen complications threaten the marriage of Janet and Angus; Finlay has a brief, passionate affair; Napier comes dangerously close to a potential disastrous liaison; and under the influence of potheen, Cameron gets involved with an Irish woman and can't be sure how far he's been compromised. The drama continues when a newborn baby is dumped on the doorstep of Arden House, a patient confesses to a murder on his deathbed and there's a light touch of humour when an outbreak of lead poisoning threatens to overtake a convent.
