Synopsis:
The inaugural performance at the Deutsche Oper Berlin in 1961, featuring Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau in the title role of Mozart's opera. Coming just six weeks after the partition of Germany and the construction of the Berlin wall, the opening of the new Opera House marked a turning point for post-war German arts. Led by Hungarian conductor Ferenc Fricsay, the all-star cast includes Elisabeth Grummer, Pilar Lorengar, Donald Grobe and Walter Berry.
