This video provides a wonderfully unique behind-the-scenes look at the world's busiest ferry port, Dover. King Janies I granted Dover its Royal Charter in 1606, thus in 2006 we celebrated 400 years of that Charter bringing you bang up to date with an incredible and colourful insight into 21st century ferry operations. Dover is the closest point to Continental Europe with many ferry ships arriving and departing daily. P and O Ferries are the principle operator at the port and have 6 ferry vessels all operating the Dover to Calais route; other operators include Sea France, Norfolk Line, and Speed Ferries all of which can be seen in this fascinating and detailed programme. Whilst on dry land we examine dockside operations and enjoy a tour of the Dover Control Centre, before taking to the waves with a privileged view from the bridge of the Pride of Canterbury as she enters into port at Dover.
