What happens when an eighteen-year old girl becomes the victim of a heinous crime? What happens when her family, a widowed mother, a twin sister, and a six-year old kid sister, is left shattered by this unspeakable crime? What happens when there is a ruthless enemy, and a frightened but determined girl in search of justice? What happens then is the story of Dushman. Naina Saigal (Kajol) cannot forget the anguished screams of her twin sister Sonia when she was being brutally raped. Much against the wishes of her mother (Tanvi Azmi), defying the warnings of the ACP (Pramod Moutho), she persues the criminal (Ashutosh Rana). She tracks him down only to lose the case against him in court. The only person testifying against him, his nurse girlfriend who takes back her testimony when he declares his love and proposes to her in court. A broken Naina doesn't give up. She follows him in his pursuit of another girl and saves her life. When the vicious rapist directs his fury towards Naina, help comes her way unexpectedly in the form of Sooraj Singh Rathod (Sanjay Dutt), a blind ex-army major who trains her to fight back. Will Naina succeed in defeating her enemy? Will her sister's senseless murder be avenged? Who will win this battle between good and evil?
