Synopsis:
The legendary conductor Vaclav Talich (1883-1961) who shaped the Czech Philharmonic over the course of entire decades, recorded Dvorak's Slavonic Dances in 1955 at what was then Czechoslovak Television. It was his last work with the Orchestra. Vaclav Talich said of his work: "We conductors are a strange combination of self-confidence and humility. We need self-confidence when we face the orchestra, then humility when we face the composer whose work we are studying...". Inspired by Talich's life, director Martin Suchanek recorded the documentary 'Vaclav Talich. Self-confidence and Humility', in which he covers all the significant moments of the conductor's personal and artistic life.
Features a rollicking live performance of Dvorak Slavonic Dances.
