He was visiting Los Angeles California to sell his debut mixed tape and to compete against other rappers in a competition affectionately called the Rap Olympics. Disappointed and disheartened at a second place finish that he felt was unwarranted, the upstart rapper casually answered a request for a tape by a teenager named Dean Gosslin. The would-be story teller got a unique call from Interscope Records CEO Jimmy Iovine. Also on the phone was his childhood hero Andre Young more famously known by his stage name Dr. Dre.
