'Emma's War' is the turbulent tale of a young girl's coming of age in Sydney during World War II. Emma (Miranda Otto) is a 14-year-old girl removed from her suburban life and sent away to boarding school. With Emma's father fighting in the War, her mother Anne (Lee Remick) is forced to take a factory job to support her two daughters. It is not long before Anne begins to depend heavily on alcohol. When the Japanese begin to attack Sydney, Anne makes the decision to take her children to the safety of the countryside. And so begin the events that will shape Emma's life. Being forced to grow up fast, she soon realises that you have to light for any thing worth having in this life. A truly touching story of a young girl's journey into adulthood and the sacrifices that must be made along the way.
